Literature Text

In English I first saw your face,
The others gazed with such distaste,
But 'twas in you I saw my place,
The lady of Shallot.

You took the poem in slender hands,
And read it in a voice like sand,
'Twas barely more than I could stand,
The lady of Shallot.

The poem was one that I adore,
I'll keep it here forever more,
She's just like you, without a flaw,
The lady of Shallot

I asked you out and you said yes,
We saw a film, I wore a dress,
How did this turn to such a mess?
The lady of Shallot

The night was heavy, hot and wet,
I pulled your stockings down your legs,
I hissed as you tried to protest,
The lady of Shallot

With sleepless nights and fitful days,
I held you down, forced you to play,
And now there's nothing left to say,
The lady of Shallot

You had to call the cops, you bitch,
The trial went without a hitch,
A restraining order; I hold my itch,
The lady of Shallot

And on the street you pass me by,
The hatred burning in your eyes,
I am the one that you despise,
The lady of Shallot

The Summer morn, a sweet sixteen,
The hottest girl I've ever seen,
Oh, all the things we could've been,
The lady of Shallot
